LIVE PERFORMANCES AND NEWS

UPDATE

The Drowning Season is currently seeking a guitarist.  You must live within driving distance of Bel Air, MD, and have reliable transportation.  The right person would have a deep appreciation for the classics (Mission, Sisters, Nephilim), and the ability to play a wide variety of different styles (Mission, Sisters, Nephilim).  Act now and our current guitarist will be able to show you our songs (we only play original tunes).  You will eventually record, play live shows (locally, in neighboring States, and possibly travel across the pond), write original songs, and practice on average of 1 to 2 times per month.  You must have decent guitar playing ability!  We are professionals and you should be too.  Please respond by sending a message indicating your interest and provide some contact info (name, phone numbers, email, etc).

Whew!  Atlantic City kicked our asses  in more ways than one.  Hopefully the 22 people who showed last night up to witness the goth rock show had fun.  I didn't score big at the casinos, so it's back to the dog kicking factory for me on Monday.  No telling when the next show is going to happen kids so stay tuned.  In other news, we're going back in the studio on Nov. 1st to pick up where we left off recording "Curse" (and yes, it'll STILL be out before the new Sisters album).  Keep the Faith and all that junk.

JUST ANNOUNCED

The Drowning Season performs live at Beautifully Damned, Atlantic City's only truly alternative night. Beautifully Damned features the "decadently darker side of music:" darkwave, 80s, old school punk, death rock, britpop, garage, psychobilly and goth. Each month an upcoming dark rock act is chosen to showcase their tunes, and this August we're bringing the goth rock to AC. Join us afterward in the casinos and watch us loose our money and what little dignity we have left! http://www.myspace.com/beautifuldamned

NEW SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT

Apocalypse: literally "the lifting of the veil," is a term applied to the disclosure to certain privileged persons of something hidden from the mass of humankind. The Drowning Season opens for Stereograph at The Lo-Fi Social Club on Friday, April 27, 2007. Stereograph play old school shoe-gazing music ala Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, etc. We play old school gothic rock ala The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, etc. If you think this is going to be one of the best shows of 2007, you're right. This my friends, is the Apocalypse...

IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING

To the casual observer it must appear that nothing ever happens on The Drowning Season front.  There really has been lots of activity of late, but I'm too lame to stop and record it all here, so if you're reading this just know that the band is still working on the next disc.  We've actually used two different studios so far: in the first we recorded lots of backing tracks and guitars, and I've been busy laying down the vocal tracks at the second studio.  The new material sounds simply amazing and once it's all done I'm sure that you'll agree that it was worth the wait and extra effort.  Thanks to all who came out to see us in Washington, DC, recently at Midnight.  You guys were fucking awesome!  I'll try to drop a few words here every so often to keep people informed and to keep up moral (HA!).  Until next time, remember that it's nice to be important...but it's more important to be nice.

HAPPY HOLIDAY'S

The Drowning Season wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Thanks again to everyone who has supported us in 2006.  We loved meeting so many MySpace friends at shows, and we hope to meet more people and play new cities in the coming year.  We should have a new CD out sometime in 2007 (or 2008, or 2012...let's just say some year that starts with a "2"), and we'll find new and exciting ways of ditching work and family responsibilities to travel great distances by car and perform in small clubs for little (if any) pay.  This truly is the stuff of legends!

HERE'S THE LATEST

It's almost that time of year again when goth kids can walk the streets without fear of reprisal!  No, not "Halloween"...I mean it's almost time for another live performance from The Drowning Season.  We're returning to Washington, DC, on Saturday, October 14, 2006.  Join us for "Midnight" held at The Meeting Place, 1707 L Street, NW, Washington, D.C. (half a block from the Farragut North Metro station).  We'll be performing some new songs that are set to appear on our next full-length disc, "God's Own Gift to Gothic Rock" (purely a working title).  So come out and gear up for that other pagan holiday while showing your support for our music and our scene.  Thanks!

JULY UPDATE

Hey Friends, just letting you know what's going on in the TDS camp.  We're continuing to write new music and get ideas together for the next CD.  Although we have tons of old tunes, the new stuff has a certain energy to it that we want to explore and record.  We're scheduled to go into the studio at the end of July, but it'll take awhile before it's all recorded, mixed, and mastered.  There's new artwork to design, new tee shirts to order...well, you get the idea.  We're really looking forward to our August 4th show with The Brides in Baltimore, and we hope to see many of our local friends at that show.  If there's a club in your city that you want us to play, shoot me an email with the details and we'll try to make it happen.  Write to me at the_drowning_season@hotmail.com.  If you're a fan of  guitar goth rock (Nephs fans especially), you must get the new NFD disc, "Dead Pool Rising."  It's simply amazing!  Take care, and keep it dark...Matt
